A Modern Sri Lankan Garment Tale.

Negombo exists to make clothing that feels like Sri Lanka today.

We’re inspired by the island in all its contradictions — its surf culture, coastal towns, craftsmen, old-school uncles, tropical landscapes, music, humour and the general chaos of everyday life. Sri Lanka has never been one thing, and we don’t want our clothes to be either.

We also want to play a small part in changing the way young Sri Lankans think about clothing and style. There is an incredible new generation growing up here, and we want to encourage them to experiment, dress with more confidence and develop a style that feels like their own. Not everything has to follow the same trends or look like it came from somewhere else. We want to see more individuality, more creativity and a little more rebellion.

That spirit is important to us because clothing is about more than just what you put on. It is a way of expressing who you are, where you come from and what you want to be. We want Negombo to become part of a youth culture that is confident enough to create its own identity rather than borrow someone else’s.

Everything we make is produced in Sri Lanka, working with local makers, artists and craftspeople wherever we can. We want to show what is possible when Sri Lankan creativity, craftsmanship and modern design are given the attention they deserve.

Sri Lanka is not simply a source of cheap manufacturing or a backdrop for a tropical holiday. It is an old, complicated, resilient and increasingly creative place, and we think its clothing should reflect that.
